hey tom,

I can understand how that must feel. Recently Steve and I lost everything on our server. all 500GB. Made me a sad panda. Even after running filescavenger, it was all still gone. At first we thought the enclosure had gone, because it wouldn't connect to USB, but we could see there was data on the drive, so we tried to plug it in with esata, but that didn't work either. So i have lost 4 years of backups and work.

I feel your pain, I just hope for your sake, that you get the bloody thing to behave itself.

Also, if you can't, remember you have like 4 other PC's to play with :D

Disclaimer: I'm a software guy, not a hardware guy... thus I'm not an 'expert'.

I once had a dodgy video card that was the cause of the exact symptoms you describe... it may or may not be the case here, but I wouldn't discount it if you've got a spare one that you can swap in for the sake of testing the theory.
