This is your first time acting together. What is your impression of each other?
Aragaki: The first time we met, Ikuta-kun asked for a handshake and said, "yoroshiku onegaishimasu."
Ikuta: I had a slight moustache on because it was my off day that day. That was pretty impolite of me, isn't it? (laugh)
Aragaki: I heard from the staff that, "He's the type to react to his co-stars’ acting". I was really happy when he is really as what the staff said.
Ikuta: My impression of Gakky-chan is that her core is very firmly built. Also, she very accurately understood what I was expressing. There was a scene when I was thinking, "I want to act this out in this way"...
Aragaki: I asked, "In this scene, do you want to try acting it this way?", didn’t I?
Ikuta: Yes! And that was exactly what I was thinking of. It's almost scary (how similar our thoughts are).
Aragaki: eh~ (laugh) Speaking of which, when we were filming in Hokkiado, during our off days, I heard that Ikuta-kun went out for movies and shopping alone.
Ikuta: Well, I'm the type to do things alone.
Aragaki: Ah. But to go alone after having meals with the staff seems even lonelier. (laugh)
Ikuta: But isn't it lonely to say goodbye to everyone else?
Aragaki: Even though we will be able to meet the next day during filming. (laugh)
Ikuta: That's true. I did say "I don't wanna go back~." (laugh)
Tell us about your first love!
Ikuta: The theme of this movie is a first love that took 10 years. If I were the character that I played, Gohei, I think I would make the same decision as him.
Aragaki: The character that I played, Saki also treasures Gohei’s presence in her life. There were many areas where I could empathise with her.
Ikuta: It's called, "Pure Love". But even so, it was 10 years and time has passed, and many incidents will happen. However, I feel that it is also because of that, even the smallest miracles in this story felt real.
Aragaki: I want to believe that this sort of love exists somewhere on this earth. (laugh)
Ikuta: That's right. (laugh) But for me, a first love like the one in the movie..... has never happened to me ! I've never experienced such an amazing love.
Aragaki: When was Ikuta-kun's first love?
Ikuta: It was when I was in kindergarten. She was my form teacher.
Aragaki: Eh? Your teacher?!
kuta: You shouldn't be surprised at that. (laugh) The kids from the other classes like her too. My memories of her are very vague.
Aragaki: My first love isn't vague at all. Eh nope, I guess it is probably not very clear either. (laugh)
Ikuta: What do you mean? (laugh)
Aragaki: I guess my first love was also during kindergarten. (far away look in eyes)
Ikuta: What kind of guy was he?
Aragaki: He had long, black hair....... I think.
Ikuta: As expected, it's vague. (laugh)
What are your first experiences during the filming of the movie?
Ikuta: On top of the fact that it was the first time we acted together, we had quite a few first-time experiences, isn't it?
Aragaki: I had to film in New York and because of that, I worked hard at my English lines.
Ikuta: You had special training too, isn't it?!
Aragaki: I studied whenever there's time. But the English lines were very long. To tell the truth, until the very end, I still didn't get used to speaking English.
Ikuta: Nah, I think your hard work will bear fruits!
Aragaki: Thank you. (laugh). It was tough work but a good experience. Also, I was happy to be filming the first time I travelled overseas.
Ikuta: Then it means there were many memorable places?
Aragaki: I went to New York and Canada for filming. There were so many places that left a deep impression on me... It was really amazing.
Ikuta: My role was a fisherman. The scenes where I was fishing in Hokkaido was really tough. (laugh)
Aragaki: You really went out on sea with the fishermen, didn't you?
Ikuta: I woke up in the middle of the night at 2am and left the harbour at 3am. And then I came back at 9am in the morning. Those days were harsh.
Aragaki:We filmed during October last year, right? The sea seems really cold.....
Ikuta: I only remembered after you said that. It was really cold. (bitter laugh) The boat would be rocking and it was pitch black all around.
Aragaki:uwa~!
Ikuta: I really respect the fishermen because they live such rigorous lifestyle everyday. But I'm really happy that the movie is completed after we put in all of our effort!
