This is a truly gorgeous piece of writing. Very well done and so bitter-sweetly beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

Gorgeous. I will say that I love retrospectives, especially when written like histories, and this doesn't disappoint. Also love that it doesn't descend into melodrama, but retains Riza's unwearying sense of acceptance throughout (even if I wish her a better fate than as an aside to Mustang's career!).

(I've started following this journal, as well; hope you don't mind! But I don't want to miss your writing, if I can help it. :) )

Thank you! (I totally always wish for Riza to have a better fate, but I think in a lot of ways, both she and he are just destroyed by Ishval, and they aren't going to let themselves abide by the normal earmarks of success, or hierarcy of needs, or what-have-you.) I'm so glad to hear that it avoided melodrama, especially because I wrote this when I was like seventeen. I mean, I did edit it, but seventeen.

I'm flattered that you're following this journal! Thank you!

This is a very beautiful and thought provoking piece. Among other things, I like how you hone in on the fact that the future generations who read their history (or his history rather) will never know how profound the relationship was and how they were each others halves, and equals rather than just subordinate and commanding officer.

Thank you for leaving such a kind comment.

They really do have a very equal relationship, all things considered. I'm glad you bought that was conveyed, and happier still that you liked it.
