Kaos is home!

It's official... Kaos has made it to her new mom. :-) Ami sent a text message to nycgadgetgirl confirming that "She's a sweetheart!", which comes as no real surprise since that was the reaction of her foster mom and her transporters ( Read more... )

Believe me, I completely understand! I wasn't sure how close we were to you anyway... SC's a weird state to transport through. All that lovely interstate and it's not actually _close_ to anything!

Now we just (im)patiently wait for reports from the new mom after they've had a chance to get settled in a bit...

Oh... speaking of SC drivers... I know you work with a Great Dane rescue some... one of the drivers today was a Dane rescuer. I think she may have taken half of the "missing" leg (last I'd heard was that the fourth and sixth leg drivers had agreed to split the missing leg if nobody volunteered).

Yeah, I've done some transports where I spent twice as much time getting to and from the transport than actually driving the dog... sometimes it just works out that way. nycgadgetgirl had actually emailed our aunt and uncle to see if they might be willing to drive that leg... they live in Columbia, so the 66-mile leg would have been about a 3.5-hr drive (plus stops) for them. Kind of a strange route, all-in-all... there's nothing really that close to the transfer points.

Yes, it was Gloria who helped. Seems like a nice lady, from the couple of emails I had with her. I have a major soft spot for Danes, so anybody doing Dane rescue automatically gains brownie points in my book. :-)

heh... I'm so relieved and so tired from this and everything else (cocktail party planning, DST patching, etc. and so on) that you beat me to posting about my own rescue!

You forgot to thank YOURSELF for getting Saigh involved in the first place and for the bajillion email and blog posts, for the DFL postings, and for the cute Kaos icons! Oh, and did I mention moral support? I wouldn't have had ANY faith that this was possible if it hadn't been for you.

I told Ami a week or so ago that I want to be my big sister when I grow up. It's true you know. :)

Awww...

I kept wishing there was more I could do. Flying to Orlando and renting a car was starting to look tempting, so I'm really glad Anne managed to scare up enough drivers for this weekend! :-)

Nevermind about my Kaos question- I spied! Figured I'd find it in your journal.

And by the way, it's Crystal, from A&B/Starfish To the sea AR. :) Howdy.

Well, hi there! :-) I didn't realize you were on LJ. I actually got my LJ account, originally, solely so I could post on driveforlife ... I had no intention of actually using it. Heh. That changed, obviously. :-)

I need to post an update on the Kaos story. Unfortunately things aren't going to work out for her to stay with Ami, so we're looking for a new home for her. Thankfully, Ami's committed to keeping her while something gets worked out, so she's safe where she is. (And, thankfully, it should be much easier to put together a transport from her current location in PA than it was to try to get her brought up from Florida!)
