I have the most enormous lump in my throat.

This is just absolutely gorgeous. I was already loving the idea of the hidden creatures - I once described Rowanna looking at the carving of a stone windowsill in Rivendell that was rather like that, and I can just see Legolas one day with a very solemn small child looking for them all - and then you got me with Gimli's hidden Dwarven runes.

Everything I love about Legolas-and-Gimli is there; their respect for each other's very different cultures and traditions, their openness to learn from each other, their enduring friendship... and now, the idea that it endures beyond death. So now I can also see Legolas tracing the Dwarven runes with that solemn small child, and teaching him/her to read them.

And now I have to stop sniffling and go and serve up our dinner!

Job Done, indeed - a lovely drabble set. And you got all three prompts into the last one, for which extra kudos!

Throat lump and the sniffles... my job here is done!

I'm sure this first-born will be a rather solemn small child - and now I can see the scene that you have painted for me. Gimli will most surely not be forgotten. As Tindómë says, to remember is the role of the immortal.

And thank you for the extra kudos, too!

Oh, how perfect, CW, that Legolas should do this for his children, remembering Gimli's instructions! And I love the descriptions of what was hidden in its decorations!

Thank you - I like to think of Legolas explaining the symbols to a child in the future - and telling tales about his friend, the dwarf. I'm glad you like the idea of those tiny carved extras here and there, too.

Thank you. I think this is enough of them, for now. But i will post them in my journal as a set soon.

Awwww. That one gave me goosebumps. Very well done. I can just hear the echo of Gimli's voice.
