What an excellent bit of foreshadowing - I can just see Thranduil emphasising his points like that, too.

Yes, I could really see him thumping the table. I wanted to write something in the Hobbit time-frame, but not from the Dwarves' POV - because after all we mostly see that in canon. And I'm re-reading The Hobbit with First Small Person, and we are currently in Mirkwood, so...

Maybe it's just post-finals insanity, but that last line really made me giggle.

Great use of the prompt!

I'm glad you giggled - I did too! I couldn't help setting poor Legolas up...

ETA: Oh, and congratulations on being post-finals, too! Just in time for a certain Long-Awaited Movie...

These things do come back to haunt one :-) I've been quite struck, thinking about the Elven POV in The Hobbit, by how anti-Dwarf the Wood-Elves would all be and how badly, from their perspective, the Dwarves behave.

I like Thranduil pulling rank, and can just see him pounding his fist on the table. Oh, those dreadful dwarves! And I love Legolas, aghast at being thought a dwarf-friend :>) If he only knew ...

Re-reading The Hobbit with First Small Person (and, at the same time, re-reading The Quest of Erebor from UT myself, which of course gives a far less pro-Dwarf perspective) I've really noticed how badly the Dwarves do behave, from the Wood-Elves' point of view - even more so later in Erebor.

Couldn't resist the last line ;-)

I like the expletive - and the irascible Thranduil. *g*

I can't resist a bit of Irascible!Thranduil. Let's face it, he does have cause!

(I must get myself a proper Thranduil icon...)
