You almost made me feel sorry for Grima here with his hopeless yearning.

I like this a lot - before Gríma's obsession crosses the line from unrequited attraction to creepy obsession. And the image of Éowyn in white against the snow is lovely.

He preferred deep, noble colors-cobalt, mahogany, sable-uncommon in Rohan.

Those tastes seem to fit Grima's place as an ambitious advisor to the king, living in luxury at the king's court. He's developed a taste for dark, rare and decadent things, then - except of course for Eowyn.

I agree with silverstarspray: it's nice to see he has genuine feeling for her as opposed to stalking/voyeurism. It's a pity it didn't work out: I think Grima might've been exceptionally loyal in different circumstances.

Interesting thought! He probably could've been exceptionally loyal, yes. (Why do I get the feeling this drabble series is only going to lead into depressing territory as Gríma obviously becomes pretty messed up...)

Yes, I think there might be an actual affinity there as well as physical attraction. After all, later, he has enough insight into her mind that he knows how to fan that restlessness of hers, even as she resists him. Although to some extent, he also just wore her down, probably.
I like that hint of a failed attempt at self-control in "quite well".

Thanks! I do like to think there was indeed some kind of affinity. It wasn't something I gave thought to until I had to for this series, but the idea that they are in some ways similar did strike me quite strongly then.

The rich colours? I'm not surprised. I also found the image of Éowyn quite alluring --- eyecatching. I liked this look, too, at Gríma, before his unrequited passion for Éowyn became creepy obsession. Nicely done.
