Saruman is deft with his weaving, bringing Gríma ever closer. You've used a deft, light hand in this and it shows.

That is exactly what I was thinking, too.

Thank you. =] This was probably one of the drabbles I've worked longest on, as it was hard to find how to get across what I needed to in 100 words.

How cleverly Sauraman ensnares Grima. I liked this.

This and the last drabble make me wonder how much of Grima's character as we know it in LotR had been formed by Saruman, and how much was his natural temperament.
And I'd never thought of it before, but now you point it out, it makes sense that some of Grima's ability to sway Theoden with his voice came from the wizard.

For my purposes anyway, I suppose I'm envisioning something along the lines of Saruman helping to...exaggerate Gríma's natural temperament to his own advantage.

And I'd never thought of it before, but now you point it out, it makes sense that some of Grima's ability to sway Theoden with his voice came from the wizard.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't my idea originally, though whether it's floating around in canon or I read someone else suggesting it I can't recall..

Oh very nicely done! You've conveyed Saruman's subtlety and Grima's (possible) naivety well - how pleased Saruman must have been to find someone to shape as his tool to further his plans.

Thank you, Kortirion! It'll be interesting to figure out just when and how Saruman manages to set Gríma against Théoden.
