A keepsake tying him to the mother he most likely barely remembers, a reminder that he once had a family into which he was born, one torn apart by so many influences, most of them bitter ones and the products of the Enemy. But now he is in the home he has carved for himself and the family he forms with Celebrian and his children and those who have gathered about them--until the newer joys and evils come upon them to change the shape of life once more.
