I like the way this wee scene gives us Parmandil as a real person, Gandalf's weariness, and that momentary thought of Faramir - his favoured person of the Citadel in this generation; all there!

Oh, indeed a perfect snapshot of that terrible moment of realization of just what the Hobbit's trove must be. At least he now knows how to test it.
