How cute! I think your second sentence should start with "Eowyn" rather than "Arwen", however. This was a very nice turn on the dragon theme.

I love the children's one-upmanship; and that it takes Aragorn to tell them that Mummy once slew one of Middle-earth's greatest evils! And yes, the thought of "worms" like Smaug might well have led to some unpleasant recollections...

Thank you - that wyrme/Wormtongue thing came to me almost immediately and it occurred to me that it also would to Éowyn - even in a totally unconnected moment of children being children.

Very cute look. Children often don't seem to see their parents as anything besides parents--no social life whatsoever. I love how you captured this reality here.
