Thank you! I don't write Tom and Goldberry often, but after rereading their chapters of LoTR I somehow very much wanted to try to get this down...

This is a lovely scene, just on the right side of wistful. You have caught the dialogue between them beautifully. Love the owl detail :)

I knew you'd like the owl! And I had fun getting Tom's lines into the right metre - I'm glad you feel the atmosphere's right.

The entire drabble is exquisite, but I especially love how Tom's attention wanders so easily from the War's end to the calling of an owl--events of equal importance to him. Thank you for sharing this!

I had owls and foxes and moonlight and all sorts of things I wanted to work in, but there just wasn't the space - you're absolutely right, I wanted to get across that very different perspective Bombadil brings to everything in LoTR, of wind and water and hillside being just as important as wars over Rings. Thank you!

That was lovely. You real nailed Tom's way of speaking!

Thank you! I did work quite hard to get the rhyme and the metre right. I once wrote an entire drabble in Bombadil-metre and the scary thing was how hard it then was to stop... ;-)

LOL! I did a drabble with Tom once, and found him horrifyingly easy to write :)

Oh, it is indeed so Tom and Goldberry! Yes, I can see both responding just this way!

Thank you, Larner :-) I'm glad you feel I've got them right - they're a unique pair.
