Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery nice. I liked the use of hyphens to break the action in that way, giving it an immediacy so you could feel involved in the action.

Thank you! I know peculiar punctuation can be overdone, but I tend to give myself more leeway in drabbles (as with peculiar syntax and an excess of colourful imagery) -- it's the best time to experiment. I'm very glad it worked out!

It is a vivid scene, and love the imagined contrast between the great mother of vampires and the now timid bat hiding away!
