Just imagining that gift took my breath away.

Good! I think it started Legolas breathing properly again - he was trying not to hyperventilate in the tunnel... Thank you for such a lovely comment.

OOoo - nicely constructed to get all three in. :)

And I understand Legolas' antipathy to deep caves - I feel my breath growing short if I watch a pot-holing doc on TV!

Once I thought of the Caves I realised I could wangle all three. And yes, I get terribly claustrophobic too - I'd be better in the big cavern, but I begin to panic at the very thought of pot-holing. Wide open spaces much more my thing! At least Gimli can ensure that Legolas isn't stuck in the dark...

“Not far now,” Gimli reassures, feeling the tension behind him in his friend’s shallow breathing. Oh, I like this, a very subtle but well done demonstration of how close they've become.

As for the rest - I see it all in my head, like a wonderful little movie! With Howard Shore's music, of course. Breathtaking!

Howard Shore definitely - imagine those soaring strings as Gandalf "risks a little more light" in the halls of the Dwarrowdelf...

What lovely things to say, Ann, thank you so much! I'm delighted it's so vivid for you (since it is for me, and that's why we drabble, right? 'Look at this moment'...)
