When it was fired and he shyly offered it to her in thanks, she felt a tightly wound place in her heart relax.

That's lovely. She so wanted Pippin to succeed, but wouldn't patronise him by faking it - so real success must be a great relief for her.

My parents still have a number of wobbly coil pots on their shelves at home produced by their various offspring at primary school - much easier for little hands than trying to manage throwing on a wheel!

I know. I did a coiled bowl that for years I used to hold various things, until a child knocked it from the etarge and it finally broke.

I'm just glad that Pippin would be able to know some success in his pottery.
