I think the King will probably put these fears to rest, and the good folk of Bree have nothing to worry about. :-) Brilliant how you've captured their uneasiness in so few words.

Let's hope so! They're an ornery bunch, though.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

There had been so much Gondor-centric stuff posted already. Not that I don't love Gondor *snort* but it was time for new perspective! And not a particularly encouraging one, either. Oh dear.

That's a neat glimpse of the peripheries! I like this view on post-War Middle-earth. Thank you!

Thank you! Once the hooligans were cleared away, and the trade routes unobstructed, I can't see that folks would be eager for other changes that might effect them in less-savory ways. Suspicious folk, those Breelanders, for all their seeming friendliness.

Ah Republicanism rears its head already! *G*

*ponders* So who's going to cry 'no taxes without representation' and organise the tea-party?

This is a wonderful look at kingship from the other side - love it!

Hee, thank you! It wanted to start out with Sam explaining the difference between the Thain and the King, but then it started getting all kinds of complicated. I like this version much better (and not entirely because I'm such a lazy writer)...
