...in the first pass,[this was one of series of his life] I'd made him a young Noldor crossing the Helcaraxe as part of the Host of Fingolfin... on the basis that Galadriel may have brought some of her household with her on her marriage to Celeborn... but I decided to pull him back a little closer to canon as a Sinda.

If Haldir didn't have any brothers, I could definitely see him as a Noldo, yes - he has that right kind of openness and curiosity that I associate with them, so could buy into that scenario. But wherever it happens, or in what circumstances, it's still a very effective drabble!
