Title: Gilraen's Lament (A Triolet)

Author's Note: For the "Willow" challenge. A triolet is a poem or stanza of eight lines with a rhyme scheme abaaabab, in which the fourth and seventh lines are the same as the first, and the eighth line is the same as the second.

Just beautiful. Gilraen is such a wonderful character. I really like how you've included elements from Tolkien's verse, and also brought out how melancholy Gilraen feels about her son's future. The imagery is just lovely, and so fitting. I love the repetition of The wind rustles through the willows, murmuring an ancient song. Thank you!

Thank you! I've been thinking a lot about the Dunedain lately, Gilraen and Arathorn, Halbarad, all those dour northern folk. (I imagine the "Born of Hope" trailers have had something to do with it.) I've always loved that "All that is gold does not glitter" poem and was quite pleased with myself for being able to incorporate it here.
