I am not an accomplished drabble writer - I usually have problems getting below 5,000 words! But I so enjoy reading everyone else's contributions that I felt I should make the effort

Oh, that's very lovely and bittersweet. (Leave it to me to focus on the the food, rather than the occasion itself.) And I apologize for not stopping by earlier to welcome you! Thanks for joining our (mostly) merry band.
I have written occasionally in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom, but began reading in the Tolkien fandom about a year ago. I have only recently ventured into Middle Earth in writing, and it is mostly a series of cross-overs between the two. Although I have mainly used the Buffyverse character as a way of looking at Middle Earth!
Drabbles are a good discipline I think, and I am much more interested in the Tolkien characters than the Buffyverse ones these days - and so it is very nice to be warmly welcomed, as I feel that I am something of an outsider!
