Oh, poor Maitimo and Findekano :( I can understand their feelings in this scene all too well. To have one's loyalties divided so...:( I've suffered through family arguments that make Feanaro and Nolofinwe look tame, but at least it never got to the level of Kinslaying...I have to wonder how Maitimo felt when he realized his beloved cousin was being left behind, the ships not going back at all.

I'm sorry to hear you've suffered through such family arguments.

I have written a bit about how Maitimo felt, in my 'verse, when he realized the ships weren't going back for Fingon or the rest of the Fingolfinians. It's a flashback, in my story about Maedhros and Aredhel, "The Bird in a Cage", Chapter 5.
