Yet he had responsibilities to his people, to Imladris… he couldn’t fail them.

That's a wonderful explanation of why Elrond didn't accompany her into the West. And fortunately, he had wonderful comrades and advisors to guide him.

Thanks - and that's an interesting point that I hadn't actually considered.

I love to read about Glorfindel.
I can certainly imagine him being Elrond's confidante in those times.

He's not a character I've written before, but it was interesting to explore - though having pursued him through two prompt series, I think I'd better give him a rest!

What a sombre scene, leaving Fornost, despite the rainbow--but at the end of the sequence, Estel, unlooked-for!

Thanks! I knew I had to end with Estel - he's the first 'Hope' I thought of.

I love all of these. The vivid picture you paint in the first one is beautiful. "It fell to Glorfindel not to fail him" is wonderful. And the last one, even though we all know who will be "the hope of Middle-earth", still has such a gorgeous reveal it makes you smile.

Thanks, I'm pleased you enjoyed them. Yes, Estel was my first thought for this challenge... it was just a question of getting there. :-)
