Although a certain amount of hand-waving is involved here, I guess. For the purpose of the drabble I've assumed that Feanor's improvement of the script compared to the sarati was really a major one--and that all the transmission about the Years of the Trees that has come down to us was written in tengwar at least at some point.
(I'm not sure we know what script the hobbits wrote Westron in, actually?)
