Yes, poor Celeborn never did get to see the Trees himself!
But there were compensations--Elwe came back, eventually, and then there was Galadriel...

I really like the duality of--well, melancholy and sadness at the loss of kin & kindred, and at never seeing that mythical Tree light, but also of hopefulness of the wonders and beauty that he might discover and love instead in Middle-earth. Reading him here, I can see how he'd develop an attachment and loyalty to those lands and take his time to leave, if ever, all those years later. :)
