Somewhere out there was the light of the Trees that Elwe had spoken of, but not for them.

Yes, poor Celeborn never did get to see the Trees himself!
But there were compensations--Elwe came back, eventually, and then there was Galadriel...

I like to think of Celeborn in this role - searching for Elwe, and finding so many other things.

I really like the duality of--well, melancholy and sadness at the loss of kin & kindred, and at never seeing that mythical Tree light, but also of hopefulness of the wonders and beauty that he might discover and love instead in Middle-earth. Reading him here, I can see how he'd develop an attachment and loyalty to those lands and take his time to leave, if ever, all those years later. :)
