I had a feeling that I knew some other personification of death from books back when richlayers asked for them, but couldn't remember it then. Which is quite weird, given that it's in my favorite fantasy book, C.J. Cherryh's Dreaming Tree (which has also been published in two parts: The Dreamstone and The Tree of Swords and Jewels). Death is a minor
