Lovely pics, especially the monsters: breathtaking! The lovely clean colours and the hard edges make me think of stained glass windows. And thanks *very* much for the stories, there's something terribly fascinating about such gruesome creatures. :D
Thank you! Stained glass windows were never my main inspiration, although I do adore them. It was a surprise when people started drawing those comparisons but I got used to it. >3>; You're so welcome. I like to share. |D
dadfhdhgfkj (like I already wrote on MSN) your details are so beautiful.
The idea for the background in the first pic is interesting, thought it took me a while to notice the underwater-iness in it, mostly because I was too busy admiring HOW it looked. And the fact that havsfru's hair repeats the same pattern is a great idea too. ¤3¤
Now, the second picture is even better on the whole. The composition is very balanced and dynamic. The background creates a good sense of movement along with the figures, whereas the less detailed gravestones are a good contrast with all the color and details and upwars movement elsewhere.
Oh, and I love the swirls in kyrkogrim's coat. So pretty! Would love that as a glass window/decoration... :3
DSkhfkc jkd *Flails with you* You are too kind to me, I don't even-- ;__;
At first I considered doing some kind of... Hint in the upper corner about land above, but then I thought that "Screw that this is at the bottom of a fucking lake, not a pond". XD In the end I wondered if the background ended up too solid, actually. Not really... Watery. Her design was really fun to work with, I'm glad you like it. :D
Shblll, professional critique-- |D
Can't have a picture by me without swirls~ HAH, I wonder what kind of church would encourage that. XD
Your work really is like stained glass windows. I love the attention to detail, even in the backgrounds, a lot of artists tend to ignore the background. The door, and the swirling colors also seem very like Van Gogh Starry Night ... your artwork is very nice, and the folklore ... I'll have to look up more on that.
Heh, I like drawing backgrounds. Actually, I'm very bad at conceptual sketches and such, if I don't have an idea for a background and know I therefore won't finish a picture, I'll give up. Thank you very much for your comment. I'm afraid I can't drop any literary tips on the folklore though. ;)
I think I went a bit hard on the blue shades in these particular pictures. :D I adore doing swirls. It's ridiculously easy, fun and you can variate it a lot. I think I need to cut down on the swirls. >3>
