I really like this fic.

My first thought after reading this was: Ah, it's like that between them.
I know this is an AU, but it still fitted them so well, that I would immediately believe it if someone told me they both don't know how much they actually care for and love each other. It sutites this pairing so much. Their pasts connect them and the rivalry of wanting to be better.
The first lines don't give away that they know each other and I like surprises like that.
They both want to forget about each other and their lingering feelings but they can't. You used few words, but you got it across nicely. It feels like the emotions are raw.
