You know what? I used to really want to do animation too. My drawing skills are good enough that they took me at RISD, but I couldn't afford to go and I really HATED the art program at PSU. That's why I ended up switching to English. I still think I would've been happy doing animation though, so I'm really really happy to see you pursuing the dream. Don't let your teacher get you down so much; art teachers are famously pissy; I wish I had cared less about them back when *I* was in school. Mine decided early on that I had what they called "East Coast classical" training (because PA is so far west, right?) aaaaand they didn't really care for my realism. It's true that I had been taught you start out learning how to draw from life and THEN leap into abstractism, but I suppose everyone's entitled to their own view

You got into RISD?? You must super amazing! My school and RISD are supposedly rivals or at least that's what my teacher makes it seem like...

I love all sorts of animation wither it's realism, abstract, or whatever. I always get so annoyed when others disregard things based merely on style or genre. For the most part my animation teachers are wonderful and supportive, it's just some of the newer ones that are a bit harder to deal with... :/
