Zaku knew what it was like to lose a parent- he'd walked in on his mother's murderer standing like some kind of hero over her dead body. Truth be told, he still wasn't quite over that loss, though it was something he would get around to doing eventually. But he didn't want Kin to end up hiding the pain like he had.

With a bouquet of flowers that he'd actually paid for himself (with the very last of the money he had hidden away in his room) in hand, he knocked on the door of Kin's apartment. He was bundled up thoroughly, complete with a scarf coming up to his nose, his mop of hair hidden away under a beanie. Most of the gang was waiting outside... He wanted to make sure Kin was all right before everyone went barging in.

At the knock Kin was startled. While she'd been thinking, she had not consciously been aware of the time or things happening around her. Looking up she sighed and shook her head. Kin could tell she was pitiful, but with a small sniff she got up threw her strayed black hair over her shoulders.

"Coming!" She called to the door, the back fists she'd made with her hands rubbing at her eyes to dry the tears like a six year old. She was glad she didn't wear makeup, it would have been smudged everywhere. In here pocket was then stuffed the letter, picked up quickly off of the floor like a hawk taking down a piece of pray.

At the door, she swung it open. Kin had not been expecting to see Zaku. For some reason she hadn't thought he would come. "Zaku-" She was startled, her semi-blood shot eyes looking at him with shock. It was hard not to cry, and she did after she hugged him. More silent tears falling down her cheeks as she latched onto Zaku and the cold he'd brought in with him.

Zaku immediately snaked his free arm around her waist, and hugged her as close to him as he possibly could. Without asking, he began to maneuver them both back inside, and he kicked the door shut behind them. He was shivering under the coat that one of the gang members had thrown at him, but the physical cold was nothing compared to the turmoil he knew Kin had to be feeling.

"It's okay. I'm here." He didn't know why he was saying those words... didn't know he'd given them permission to fall from his chapped lips.

Kin didn't cling to Zaku long, but it was long enough to let her finally sigh and be done with her tears. For now. It would be an on and off process for the next few days she was sure.

"Thanks, jerk." She made a face at him, then smiled. "You're freezing. Don't tell me you went outside without your jacket, then put it on?." Her warm hands touched his face and she shook her head. "You're so lost without me." Kin kissed him quickly and then led him in further, over to the heater.
