Americans seem to have this way of wanting "fast and cheap". We're not generally interested in food the way some other nations are. Exception exist, of course, but if you take a general survey of what's in our grocery stores, you get a pretty good idea of what Americans like. I'm always fascinated by what I see in other people's shopping carts.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)? Depends on who you ask, just like anything. Corn syrup's not so bad. HFCS, though, is much more prevalent and not the same as plain ol' corn syrup.

HFCS is in a lot of the sodas, fruit drinks, candies, baked goods, and quick/easy to make things that you get in the grocery store. Reading the packages and restricting our soda and baked goods intake helps a lot with the moderation thing .... especially when getting freaked out by the ingredients makes your appetite disappear ( ... )
