"Yixing!"

The man glanced over his shoulder, lifting his hand in greeting when he saw the other waving like a maniac from across the street. The other bounded towards him, slinging an arm around his shoulder to pull him into a one armed hug.

"You have no idea how happy I am you finally agreed to this! You're the best Yixing!" The man crowed happily.

Yixing smiled gently.

"I don't know Xiumin." He said in a serious tone. "Seeing you now reminds me why I stayed away for so long. I'm considering just hopping on a flight back to Beijing."

Xiumin glared at him before kicking at the other guys' shoe.

"Always the jerk." He grumbled, but with a smile.

"I've got to make up for not seeing you for three years." Yixing laughed. Xiumin pouted.

"Why the hell were you gone for so long anyway?" he asked.

Yixing paused, glancing up at the sky, a sad smile playing at his lips. Xiumin studied him for a moment and decided to leave the questions for later.

"Come on Xing." he tugged on the strap of Yixing's lone bag, dragging the daydreamer behind him.

"We need to head to the office so you can meet everyone." he said. Yixing blink, glancing at Xiumin with a pained expression.

"Tell me why you're dragging me to work when I got off the plane literally half an hour ago?" he sighed. "I'm not even technically working there yet."

"Oh shut up. With your skills, you don't even need to think about it. You're in." Xiumin scoffed, waving a hand to dismiss the matter. "You just need to go in, do what you do, and impress the shit out of everyone as usual. Even in Korea your skills are legend."

Xiumin winked at Yixing, who shuddered slightly.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Let's just get this over with so I can eat and get some sleep." he muttered, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"It's the same job we've always done, Xing." Xiumin said. "You just have to report to different people. You'll like everyone...eventually." he muttered the last part, but Yixing caught it anyway.

"Plus, we've really been needing another person since that spot's been vacant for almost a year and a half." Xiumin said quietly. He grinned at Yixing. "And you are the best."

"I used to be." Yixing chuckled. Xiumin shook his head.

"Don't even try that Xing," he scolded, "No one else has come close to your level. Well, there's...but he's still not there yet."

"Who?" Yixing asked, but Xiumin shook his head.

"You'll meet him today and oh looky we're here!" he cried, throwing Yixing a mischievous glance that had Yixing nervous. Very nervous.

Xiumin pushed Yixing through the doors of what looked like a large hotel.

"Welcome to The Exotic!" Xiumin chirped, spreading his arms to show the splendor.

Yixing gave him a look that clearly said he was worried about his friend's mental health.

"Aren't we supposed to be going to your work-office-place-thing?" Yixing asked.

"This is it!" Xiumin grinned, waving to the two girls at the front desk, who smiled and waved back.

"So you live and work in the same place?" Yixing asked, skeptical.

"Yup! And so will you! The leaders designated the top four floors for "employees" like us, their offices, and all that good stuff." Xiumin explained. Yixing forced him to put his hands down, he kept doing air quotes.

They walked into an elevator, where Xiumin produced a key card that he slid through a barely noticeable slot. He pressed the number 9 once, then again.

"I didn't think this place had that many floors." Yixing frowned, trying to remember what the outside had looked like.

"Oh, it doesn't." Xiumin smirked. "That code takes us directly to the top offices, and it's so the regular guests don't accidentally walk into something that could kill them. Seriously. Like, Chanyeol is our pyro freak and he almost set off a bomb in the girls bathroom the other day. Twice. And he still won't say why he was in the girls' bathroom."

Xiumin chuckled, shaking his head like it was a fond memory, while Yixing was watching with a sinking feeling in his stomach that only sank more with each floor they passed.

When the doors opened and they stepped out, Xiumin grabbed his arm.

"I should warn you, the guys are a bit...strange. They're really good guys, they're just not used to change so some might not warm to you as quickly as the others."

"You're making me feel great Min." Yixing said sarcastically. Xiumin bit his lip, thinking.

"Okay, well since we're short on time and you'll get introduced to everyone anyway, I'll just give you the rundown on the leaders."

"You mentioned them before. As in plural. Leaders." Yixing murmured. Xiumin nodded.

"Yeah, Suho and Kris are the leaders of this thing." he flailed his hands, gesturing to his surroundings.

"For now, all you need to know is Kris is the tall blonde one. He's the more rational and level headed of the two despite his constant bitchy expression. And Suho is the tiny one with red hair. He's the more...volatile of the two. Poor Jongdae still has the scar from when Suho threw that vase at his head. But you'll be fine!" he added quickly, grabbing onto Yixing's bag and tugging him out of the elevator he'd bolted back into, preparing to press the 'close doors' button.

"Why are we friends when everything you do "for my own good" ends up with me getting molested or maimed?" Yixing groaned.

"Hey! That was only one time, and it's not my fault! How was i supposed to know that guy was a creep??" Xiumin demanded. Yixing fixed him with a look, making Xiumin roll his eyes and wave his hands to dismiss the matter.

"A talk for another time! Come on! You're stalling!" he said, pushing Yixing through a pair of large glass doors.

"GUYS! I'M BACK! AND I BROUGHT SOMETHING!" Xiumin hollered into the empty space in front of him. Yixing blinked against the bright light that streamed through the many windows.

"IF IT'S NOT FOOD I'M NOT INTERESTED!" came a voice down the hall. Xiumin rolled his eyes, glancing at Yixing with a smile.

"That's Jongin." he explained before turning around again. "IF YOU ALL DON'T GET YOUR PANSY ASSES OUT HERE I'M SETTING OFF STINK BOMBS IN YOUR CLOSETS AGAIN!"

"Again?" Yixing whispered. Xiumin waggled his eyebrows.

"I keep them on their toes." was all he said. Yixing shook his head.

Slowly, people started to gather in the room, wandering in from the many doors and halls.

Xiumin clapped his hands.

"Okay! I think that's ev-no. CHANYEOL! SEHUN!" he yelled.

"Think fast!" someone yelled.

Out of the corner of his eye, Yixing saw something flying towards him. He reacted on instinct. Shifting his stance, he snatched the object out of the air before it could hit him in his face. He looked at it.

"A nerf dart."

"Wow Minseok! You weren't kidding about his reflexes!" Two guys came in from the hall, one carrying a nerf gun.

"They call you Minseok?" Yixing murmured to his friend, who shrugged.

"The Koreans do since I am Korean. There's a few other Chinese guys here, they call me by either. Personal choice really." Xiumin chuckled.

Yixing just nodded, turning back to his two attackers.

The one with the gun held his hand out expectantly, his face stoic.

"Can I have my dart back, please?" he asked in a surprisingly soft voice. Yixing handed it over before he had a wide eyed, smiley elf all up in his face.

"I'm Chanyeol!" he announced proudly.

"Chanyeol, Sehun. Didn't I say no more nerf dart wars in the office?" Came a stern voice from behind Yixing.

Turning, he found himself looking at a tall blonde with a bitchy expression on his face who he could only assume was leader one of two. Kris.

The blonde shifted his gaze to Yixing.

"Welcome Yixing. Minseok's told us a lot about you. We hope you will like it here." he said.

Yixing nodded, opening his mouth to reply, when a smaller man pushed forward, his smile making his eyes crinkle.

"Hi! I'm Suho!" the other leader said. "If you're going to die on us or slack off," he continued, smile replaced with a cold expression, eyes glinting madly, "then get the fuck out now."

He glared at Yixing before spinning around and stalking twoards one of the back offices, slamming the door behind him.

An awkward silence stretched.

"Well that was Suho! As you can see he's a bit--"

"Insane?" Yixing finished for the smaller, brown haired guy with a bright smile. His helpful tone drew a few laughs from the group.

"Suho just doesn't deal well with change." Kris explained with a small smile before moving to start introductions.

It was times like these that Yixing was grateful for his photographic memory as he nodded to each person as their name was called out.

He kept a small smile on his lips throughout the "hello's", "nice to meet you's", and the random "I hope you don't die" by the gentle, wide eyed Kyungsoo.

"Don't be fooled by his cute demeanor." Xiumin whispered. "Kyungsoo is worse than Suho in some ways. But it seems he likes you, since he doesn't want you to die." he chuckled.

Yixing nodded, soaking in this information as he watched the tiny man briefly.

"Where's Luhan?" Xiumin called out suddenly.

"Ah, I think he's still training. He's not exactly happy about getting a new partner." Kris said, rubbing the back of his neck. Xiumin sighed.

"It's been a year and a half." he said gently. "It's been more than enough time, and we're struggling."

"I know," Kris said, "but he's still--"

"Still what?" came a soft voice from behind them.

"Ah! Lulu!" Xiumin cried happily, flinging his arms as he skipped (yes, skipped) towards the newcomer.

"And you call me a girl Xiumin?" the guy laughed as Xiumin snuggled into him.

"Only 'cause you've got a pretty face." Xiumin cooed. The guy scoffed, shoving Xiumin away.

"And I can still kick all of your asses without breaking a sweat." he teased. The guy finally looked at Yixing.

Yixing cocked his head as he studied the man in front of him. He was very delicate, almost fragile, looking, his big eyes framed with long lashes that brushed his cheeks when he smiled, his pink lips spreading to show a perfect set of teeth. His blonde hair dark and wet from the shower he obviously just took, and framed his face perfectly.

"You must be Yixing." he said warmly, holding out his hand. Yixing didn't look at it, just continued to study the warm brown eyes.

"I would shake your hand if it wasn't for the fact you're hiding a blade in the other." Yixing explained calmly.

The entire room fell silent as all the attention fell on Luhan and Yixing.

"What are you talking about Xing?" Xiumin stammered out. He turned to look at Luhan, who was studying Yixing just as intently as the latter was studying him.

"Luhan what-"

"This is why I tell you guys to always be aware, even if there doesn't seem to be any danger. There could always be another side to what you see." Luhan said loudly. He turned his palm up, showing the blade he'd had cupped in the palm of his hand, not noticeable when he had his hand by his side.

Murmurs erupted. Everyone turned admiring gazes to Yixing, who ignore them, continuing to study the man in front of him.

Xiumin laughed.

"And that's also why you can never trust a face as pretty as this. He's the best because no one would ever suspect such a pretty thing of any evil." he patted Luhan's cheek affectionately. Luhan swatted it away, scrunching his nose in annoyance but still keeping a smile on his lips.

"He's really not pretty." Yixing muttered, stuffing his hands back into his pocket. He said it quietly so no one would hear, but Luhan whipped his head towards him, eyebrows furrowed and a strange look on his face.

Yixing just stared back, face expressionless.

"Hey, Min. I'm tired, can you show me my room?" Yixing asked, never taking his eyes off Luhan's. Xiumin was too busy chasing Jongin around to notice the tension between the two men.

"Sure thing! And we can talk more there! Come on!" he chirped, smacking the back of Jongin's head one last time before bolting out the door, pulling Yixing with him.

Yixing looked back before the door closed to find Luhan still watching him.

"So that's my new partner?" Yixing asked as he was dragged through at least three different doors and two hallways.

He was definitely getting lost.

"Yeah, Luhan." Xiumin said. "Don't mind him if he's a little rough at first. It's just...his last partner. Amber."

"What about her?" Yixing pressed.

"In a bit." Xiumin said. He let out a small cry of victory as he found the room he was looking for. They stumbled in, Xiumin dropping on the couch. Yixing looked around, pleased. It was basically a small apartment. It had a small kitchen, living room, bathroom and when he looked in the bedroom, an actual closet and dresser.

"Nice." he said appreciatively. Xiumin nodded happily.

"Yeah, the leaders are pretty awesome when it comes to our living environments!"

Xiumin glanced back at Yixing.

"Anyway. Amber was with us when the leaders first started this, and the first and last girl to be "employed". She was so pretty, but she liked to dress more tomboyish, and it helped when we went out on our jobs. Her and Luhan were especially close, considering they were cousins."

Yixing snapped his head up, not liking where this was going. Xiumin sighed, rubbing a hand over his face, suddenly looking older than his age.

"I'm keeping this short because none of us knows what exactly happened, but Amber and Luhan went out on a job, and only Luhan came back. We never got her body back."

Xiumin stared at the floor, pale and eyes bright with unshed tears. After a pause, he looked at Yixing.

"It's been a year and a half, but it's still so fresh. For everyone, but especially Luhan. Amber was his only family."

Yixing sat next to Xiumin, staring at the floor, thinking.

He thinks about what he's falling back into, after almost a year and a half of no activity, no jobs. He's been as "retired" as you could get in this business.

He thinks about the last job he had--the 42 year old gang leader who prostituted children. Yixing remembers the fear in the mans' eyes as he stared down the barrel of Yixing's gun. Yixing remembers the blood that sprayed the wall, the final imprint of a man who filled so many lives of suffering.

He thinks about his first job--a 36 year old CEO who murdered his way to the top, making too many enemies before he was found, neck slashed, in his bed, awakened only to be put back into a permanent sleep.

Yixing remembers the families of all the murdered. He can remember how many lives he'd had to take, and how many lives he saved because of it.

Yixing thinks about the reason he came back.

It's funny, really, how fate works.

Amber had been his closest friend when they'd met a little over two years ago.

They only knew each other for about eight months before she left to go back to Korea to visit family.

A month later, he found out she was dead.

A year and a half later, he was here to find out why.

~~Umm...hi. So this is my first entry on here, and I have no clue how to work anything. But I hope you like this?~~
