XD Good post.

I wouldn't say I have a huge distaste for authors like Anne Rice, but rather it leaves me not wanting to read it because after I read it, what's the point? I don't want to be left with an urge to write a fanfic when I'm not allowed to, you know?

I'm all for those author's who want to protect their work, but at the same time . . . bleeeeh XD

Haha, yeah, I hope it's useful to people. There's a lot of confusion on the subject because fanworks are so widespread.

Eh, I think authors should know how to pick and choose their battles. Ethics and integrity aside, it's about pragmatics. If they're smart, they can make it very profitable for them to culture a fanbase.
