Oct 12, 2011 12:52

The group JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu) donated 600 million won to World Vision for the survivors of the Tohok Quake in Japan and a portion of that donation has been used to build a shelter for the victims of the disaster. Parts of the donation was used in providing emergency disaster relief supplies in the initial phase as well as recovery and reconstruction.

The shelter that JYJ's donations contributed towards, was built in one of the disaster locations in the Iwate Prefecture. Urgent aid was required in Iwate Prefecture as the elderly over the age of 65 accounted for 30-40% of the residents there. Temporary buildings have to be built as the recovery and reconstruction work will take about 2 years to complete. Thanks to this gift from JYJ, the residents will be able to ease their minds and rest in these shelters.

Mitsuko (63), one of the beneficiaries of the shelter, gave her sincere thanks, "After the earthquake many of my neighbours suffered from anxiety and now we will have this place that JYJ and World Vision built to rest in with peace of mind."

World Vision President Park Jong Sam said, "We have received many heartfelt thanks towards JYJ from Japan. This World Vision shelter that we have built is a place where the victims of the earthquake can rest and recuperate."

JYJ's history of contribution is not just limited to the Japan earthquake. Last year, JYJ also donated 30 million won to World Vision from the profits of their showcase and that money is now being used to build restroom and sanitary facilities in primary schools. Also, according to the wishes expressed by JYJ, the fans of JYJ sent 'Love Bentos' in place of flowers to 11 World Viision centres in Seoul, consisting of a total of 8.38tonnes of rice.

On the other hand, on 15 and 16 October, JYJ will be holding their 60,000-seater official concert 'JYJ UNFORGETTABLE LIVE CONCERT IN JAPAN 2011' at Hitachi Beach Park in Ibaraki Prefecture.
