adventures in card engineering

I just spent two and a half hours making my niece a simple pop-up birthday card. I do these things for myself, really, because I'm pretty sure that my niece is not the sort of child who treasures things and takes special care of them, which means that she will open the thing and, if she takes note of it at all, will think the bunnies are cute and ( Read more... )

That is the cutest thing in the world. Would you care to share the mechanics behind it, Aunt Cammy? There might be a shameless copycat reader who'd like to attempt this feat.

Great job. This is unbelievably cute. I hope she keeps it and looks at it every few years in the future and think of her amazing aunt with a smile every time.

*adopts you*

Also, I got your photo this weekend. It's beautiful, and it just so happens that it matches the color scheme I've got going in my house perfectly. Thank you so very much!!

It's beautiful. I want to make one. And, Ms. Tofty, I now know all about you because your holiday card came today with your exquisite hand lettering as evinced on the enclosed recipe. Really, you must be the most precise and tidy person in the world. Your hand printing is that good. Thank you for the drabble, too! I have not written one although I sent my holiday letters out today; for some reason, I thought of the drabble as on online thing. Will do.

Ahahahaha! I'd love to say that was the case, and I do intend to keep my house as tidy as my handwriting -- and prefer it that way -- but I have a tendency to let entropy take hold while I do things like read or watch movies or make pop-up greeting cards. :D

And I'm so glad you got the card! (Another distracting project!) I've had one come back to me, so I've been worrying about everyone else's.
