Yay! I tried to learn knitting, but I kept fucking up and I got frustrated, so I quit. But seeing this makes me want to try it again!

Making crafty stuff is fun, especially when you see the result of your work.

even that little thing tested my patience - probably because i kept messing up - so imagining knitting something like a scarf made me go nope nope nope!

i do want to get good at it though; probably i'll practice when i have free time :)

Knitting is hard. I am still really horrible at it after many attempts. You should try crochet. It's much much much more easier.

I've tried crochet once, so it wouldn't fulfill the criteria of new skill ;) I wasn't really good at it either, but I do agree that it's easier!

This is BRILLIANT! I love it.
I finished knitting a scarf last week lol, I've been knitting for years, yet I can't say my stuff looks overly professional when you get up close lol.
My first attempt was a hole-ridden, badly knitted, I-have-no-idea-what-i-was-doing MONSTROSITY!!!! So i think your life preserver is flawless! Def worthy of ticking new skill off the list :D

Ooh, have you ever put up pictures of your knitting creations? Because I'd love to seeee!!! :D

I don't know how to put pics up on here. I've knitted a scarf for myself, one for my mum and last week I sent one that i knitted for my friend to her for her birthday.
When I know how to upload pics, I should be able to find one or two pics that showcase my work ;P

I bought a bunch of those turtles when I went to Myrtle Beach this summer! I think they're fantastic!!

My friend knitted me a set of square coasters (she called them mug mats). Maybe you could set your sights on those and work up?

haha that's what i was thinking of making when i abandoned the scarf idea but then i gave up because even that was too much effort at that time. But i might just start making them now that i have the time to practice :)
