Day 3 With No Warm Water

Jul 31, 2013 11:09

Any other day, this weather would be PERFECT! The sun has yet to show itself, and the skies are gray. If I go outside, I am hit by a brisk wind, that makes me forget that it is Summer. Usually by 9 am, it is baking hot, and all of the fans in my house are on, at full speed. Not today though. Today, it is nippy outside...all I want to do is curl up ( Read more... )

How extensive is the warm water ban? Are you drinking hot or warm coffee or hot chocolate? If you say no warm water then is it truly no warm water or just cold showers?

And as one who occasionally enjoys a cold shower, the easiest way to do it is to turn the water pressure down so you have better control which body parts are getting the cold water.

If your original goal when you wrote 'warm water' on the list was to take a cold shower every day, then by all means keep doing it and ignore my 'thinking out loud,' but if you're just trying to push the envelope of doing without modern conveniences, why not skip the cold shower and instead take a sponge bath using a bucket of water that's been allowed to come to room temperature? I guess it depends on your definition of warm water. You could fill the bathtub in the evening and take a bath in the morning, the water won't be warm, but it also wont be as cold as when it comes out of the pipes. Or fill it in the morning and let the heat of the day take the chill off it and take a bath in the evening.

I don't mean to suggest you should sidestep your original goal, or nit pick your way out of really doing what you've set forth, I just wonder if 'no warm water' has to equal freezing cold water?

Your idea seems great actually. I am really not sure why, but the cold shower thing just seems to be a more extreme way, which makes the whole thing that much more real to me. Not sure if that makes sense.

Hi Michael,

When I first heard and read about this project, I didn't really understand why you were doing it. Thanks for the explanation. It is important to have something that is ours and challenges us.

Hugs and good luck with the rest of the cold shower portion of this project.
