Writer's Block: Earth Vacation

Jul 13, 2008 11:32

If I were an alien and came to Earth, I would tell the "folks back home" that Earth was overrun by a bipedal species bent on destroying their only home and each other. If I had the opportunity to stay a while, I might report back that they are equally capable of acts of kindness as well as hate. I would report that they have concepts that are ( Read more... )

Wow, that would make you an incredibly evolved alien from outer space, right?

Unfortunately, you would be telling the hard cold truth about those damn Humans. Soon they will start a brand new nuclear war that will innahilate the planet. Stay tuned.

Well, I would have to be incredibly evolved to be part of a civilization capable of interstellar travel. Of course, there is always the possibility of having a "caste" system whereby the really intelligent members stay on the planet, while the stupid drones take a ride on the preprogrammed flight to Earth. I can imagine that scenario:

Zlog: Which button do I press?
Krix: You're not supposed to press ANY button. Relax!
Zlog: But they said in the briefing...
Krix: You actually paid attention?
Zlog: Duh! (the alien word for "duh" is quite impossible to pronounce)
Krix: OK, the red one, I think
Zlog: Right, here goes.... (sound of spacecraft being sucked into black hole)
Zlog/Krix: !@#$%^&*!!!!!!

Hey, I HOPE we don't start a nuclear war. I have nieces and godsons that, if they survived, would be really, REALLY ticked off. Let's not go there.

I really would like to live to the extent of my natural life if that is not too much to ask...

That is my wish as well. Let us just say we live in interesting times.

I believe that there are extra-terrestrial civilizations out there in the great universe. Some are just getting started, while others are dying. I believe that there is life in an almost unlimited variety. Perhaps one of the greatest comforts we can consider is that we are NOT alone.

OK, enough with the New Age babble. Back to work :-)
