I was thinking that peoples' lives were probably a lot more meaningful before the explosion of social media. Sure there are some benefits to it, like being able to 'meet' people that live near and far - people that you may have not been able to meet otherwise, but when these interactions start being a substitute for real life, I suppose that's ( Read more... )

I know exactly what you mean. I wanted to deactivate my facebook profile today.

I reflect often on how people used to use LiveJournal. I miss those days.

My family went on the attack with me saying really hurtful and outrageous things about me simply because they disagree with my political updates that I share. FB also brings out the worst in people. It's like they forget that their friend or family that they presumably care about is on the other end of that. Like you're driving in your car and flip someone off or yell at them. You feel safe in your car. So, people hide behind their computers to do the same thing. It's totally ridiculous!
