bristol bay is amazing.  i kind of have a crush on the place. three weeks of fishing, eating good, and enjoying the scenery.....everything went off without a hitch.
alas, i leave again! but won't be gone long.
i'm taking ten russian explorers to manley hot springs in a few days, should be back friday!

the weather has been spectacular all week....it's been an overnight transformation from winter to, well, summer? i mean things aren't green yet, but damn! it's been so sunny...and warm, and the sun doesn't set till really late. i've been hyper productive lately. the past few days i've been doing stuff from sunrise to sunset.

i actually flew this weekend...after weeks of volcanic activity that put flying and snowmachining to a halt. nevertheless there was a lot of ash where i went and you could see it everywhere on the flight out. saw redoubt and it was smoking away.
got a lot done, am excited.

mt. redoubt just blew its top 3 times tonight.....which could mean a shit load of ash blanketing anchorage in a few hours....or not. either way, i ran to the store for the family and got water and last minute supplies for the house in case the city shuts down...the lines were soooo long at 2 am. i was really surprised word spread so fast. we got a ( Read more... )

went on an overnight ski trip in the backcountry....the weather has been amazing, sunny and cold.
 looks like i may be snowmachining 200 miles for a supply run with building materials for various structures next week.
