Disclaimer: The Uryu school district mostly provides fairly tasty meals in relatively generous portions. And their chicken curry is excellent.

That said: Today's main dish was cream gratin baked in a crab shell

Yeah, I've been becoming slightly more vegetarian, but I'm still eating the school lunches, so it ends up not being very vegetarian at all while at school.

It would be sad to be a vegetarian working at a JHS, since you wouldn't be able to eat the school lunches at all and they don't, I hear, let you eat bentos with the students cuz they'll be jealous.

Yeah, flecks of flesh in everything. I guess if I was vegetarian, I could bring an extra-big tupperware of rice with some umeboshi and vegetarian furikake on it, and then try and cull whatever I could from the school lunch. They let you get some leeway on the bring-your-own-rice rule pretty freely.
