Oh this was so sad! Poor Merlin and Arthur. :( Though I wish Merlin hadn't kept the fact of his execution from Arthur, I understand that he didn't want to burden Arthur with it. I imagine Arthur would have tried his best to rescue Merlin from his fate. Such a sad ending...aww, they both need hugs here. Beautifully written though. I enjoyed reading this. :)

Oh, this is a gorgeous little piece. I adore how you handled... everything. From Uther trusting Merlin not to run (or... maybe... hoping he did?) and Merlin withholding his execution from Arthur. Dear, dear Arthur! how he must have woken up that morning. D:

maybe he really did want merlin to run? maybe he knew merlin well enough to know that he would never betray camelot?

i tried writing arthur's reaction, but things changed and so the last three-ish lines sort of show what happened to him. :)

Oh, I understand! I think the fact that it was so precise-that there is not only a lovely little scene in the story, but a picture in the words unsaid-is what makes it so fantastic.
