Most homes in the Midwest have a basement (which was weird for me coming from Phoenix, no basements there). A walk out means that the basement is only "underground" in the front half of the house so it can have a door out to the backyard in the back half. Basements that are not a walk out are mostly underground all the way around and only have windows, no door to the outside. I think walk outs are much better!
I went to various realtor websites (like edinareality.com) and browsed their recently sold houses to see what homes in this neighborhood have sold for. Also, we can browse out county govt. website to see what people were paying for property tax and their estimated home value. We want to make sure we aren't buying the most expensive house in the neighborhood (or the least expensive either!).
