Because them HAVING SEX ON THE FLOOR OF THE ENGINE ROOM was the end of the montage of Serenity fixage. Then Mal talks to the Operative. Then he talks to Zoe. Then there's Simon and Kaylee in the kitchen as Jayne walks out and Mal talks to Inara. Then there's River and Mal in the cockpit and he calls her Little Albatross and I squee with Coleridge love and then the movie ends. And Simon and Kaylee probably go and HAVE MORE SEX.

Also, you know what my favourite shot of the whole movie is? The first time we see Serenity, when we sweep around the ship and focus in on Mal and Wash (WAAAAAAAAAAAIL) and that awesome, jangly music starts up, and she starts making her descent, and it's so AWESOME and POWERFUL and I'm, like, welling up right now with tears of pride because I AM A LOSER.
