I need poems about family and poems about place that would be interesting to Juniors and Seniors.

I need more poems for my freshpeople.

If you could use any rap or hip hop song as an example of good poetry, what would it be?

Lessons for my kids this week.

Situations like these make ya wish Tim's book was done.

With regards to place, pretty much every poem in the "The Good Things About America" but specifically Ken Arkind's poem "Maggie" where he personifies LA.

Grrr . . . so many "school" poetry books at school . . . I use a lot of poems out of Billy Collins Poetry 180 books because they're short, relatable, and usually pretty easy to understand. Oh, and look, a bunch are online: http://www.loc.gov/poetry/180/ There are a lot of good family ones there.

"Saturday at the Canal" by Gary Soto is another good place one--not so much that it is rooted in place but the desire to be someplace else. I could go on for quite some time but I have grading to do. Good luck.
