Ryan had ambitions. He wasn’t content with them just sounding amazing in Spencer’s garage, with Crystal and Jackie dancing along to their music. He wanted to sound amazing in front of people who didn’t have Little Mermaid backpacks and the last name ‘Smith.’ He wanted a gig.

I had read several Bob/Spencer stories and liked them, but I don't think it would have occurred to me to write the pairing if snarkyrainbow hadn't asked for it. Now I'm totally won over, and I agree: the world needs more Bob/Spencer.

Spencer Smith is so gorgeously adorkable *smooshes his pouty bitchface* and Bob Bryar is so cool. Offering to help Spencer with his kit, taking it so well when Panic gets to play prom... and I loved how Spencer took the risk with going to the gig and putting it out there. That was really good, and rang really true, because, yeah, Bob wouldn't want to put himself out there again when he thinks that Spencer hates him.

I set it in the mid-nineties because that's when Gerard and Ray would have actually been this age, and then I tweaked everyone else's ages to fit in high school. The nice thing is, I was a teenager then, so I get to giggle and feel nostalgic to metal pudding cans and dialup internet. :o)
