Who: Montgomery Scott and Keenser
Where: Headed to engineering
What: Shit just got real.

Scotty hadn't seen much of Keenser since Risa; between trying to take care of the engine and trying to catch Boyle, he'd been too busy for much of anything else. But with Boyle in custody, and now Someone Else's Problem, life on the Enterprise was returning ( Read more... )

It'd been awhile since he and Scotty had just been able to talk with each other, caught up between vacationing and the random disappearances throughout the ship. He'd missed talking with one of his greatest friends, and knew that he'd probably closed himself off a bit from the newest recruits because of it. Plus he hadn't seen Marla in a few days, and he missed talking with her the most...even if he didn't talk that much...

Shrugging he glanced up at Scotty from the corner of his eye, smoothing out his uniform with his hands. 'Met one. Quiet.' He'd never met an engineer who just stood there and didn't say anything less then him. He hoped silently that she'd be able to open up more, or she might get lost among the other crew members. Not that Keenser talked a lot, but he was used to living in the shadows, a habit that was hard to break once it flourished.

"I'm sure they'll all settle in just fine," Scotty continued, a little distracted as he mentally went over a checklist of everything that he needed to get done today, and whether or not there was enough time to it. Maybe if he skipped lunch. "There was somethin' else I wanted tae talk tae you about too...." He trailed off, slowing down as he tried to remember. Oh. Right.

He stopped, and crossed his arms, giving Keenser his best Chief of Engineering glare. "You stay away from my tools, or I'll write you up." He wouldn't. They both knew that. Besides, his wrench protesting being used to hit things had been pretty funny - even if it got annoying after a while. He'd dismantled the voiceboxes eventually, but not until after spending a good fifteen going through his entire toolset to find out what each one said.

Keenser nodded along, watching his feet as he walked along the corridor before slowing down with Scotty. Raising a rocky brow at the engineer, he waited for him to say what he was thinking, letting out a soft snort at the threat. It'd be a warm day on Vega when Scotty would write him up for anything, the small alien had enough blackmail on the engineer to last a lifetime. Not that Scotty didn't have a lot on Keenser, but he didn't really care what most of the crew thought about him, well...except for maybe Marla...

Shaking his head with a small grin he turned away, knowing the engineer enjoyed the prank just as much as he had creating it. 'Not like voices?' Throwing his voice over his shoulder he continued on his way to engineering, chuckling softly.

"It was funny the first time," he replied, grinning at Keenser's back as he went on ahead. "The fiftieth time, not so much. See if I let you borrow my tools again." Ah well. He'd just have to come up with something to get his friend back. Something with style, not just any old prank. He'd caught up with Keenser, walking side-by-side with him, and was lost in thought when suddenly...

They weren't on the Enterprise anymore. Scotty hesitated, and glanced at his friend, and then turned his attention back to the scene in front of them. Looked like... late 20th century, maybe early 21st? "What the..." Another glance at Keenser, and then a glance down at himself. Both of them were no longer in their Starfleet uniforms, dressed instead as 21st century police officers. "Keenser, please tell me I'm not seein' things."
