ARTIST CLAIMS POST

Nov 21, 2012 05:20

The draft submissions are in, and that means it's time to post the summaries for the artists to partake of! Under the cut you'll find the summaries and other relevant information for the submissions we received. Fics will be denoted as either [minibang] or [big bang], and will be numbered so that the authors remain anonymous.

Once an artist has picked a summary and the claims period has ended, both the artist and the writer will be informed and put into contact with each other; after that it's up to them to set up communication and cooperation and all that good stuff. :) So without further ado, here we go!

Part necromancer and part pack, Stiles must regain his footing in the living world, navigate the rocky emotional terrain that is Derek Hale, and prevent an ancient, corrupted spirit from stealing his second chance at life.

Title: Accidents [mini bang]
Word Count: 11,253
Rating: M
Warnings: Underage, Alternate Universe
Pairing: pre-slash Coach Finstock/Greenberg
Genre: Slash
Series Summary: Being a teacher and coach at Beacon Hills High School wasn't a part of his life plan. Then again, neither was meeting Greenberg. He never fails to complain about both, but lately he's starting to wonder if everything happens for a reason.

Fic Title/Summary 1: Lost - Bobby Finstock knows exactly where he's going even if the road he's taking isn't on the map. Never mind what everyone else thinks. The only problem is that his arrival in Beacon Hills isn't what he's expecting.
Fic Title/Summary 2 Time - The rush of getting from one place to another used to be the only thing worth living for. Bobby Finstock lived for the way he could move from one edge of the field to the other, dodging everyone and making every second count. When Finstock watches his players move out into their first game of the season, he wonders if they realize the power they have is one-half responsibility and one-half luxury.
Fic Title/Summary 3: Crayons - Finstock remembers his lacrosse coach telling him that the surprised human perception and reaction time was 1.5 seconds. He figures that's as good a guess as any for how long it took him to hate Greenberg.
Fic Title/Summary 4: Water - Greenberg may never know who he was meant to be, but someday he'll know who he's become. In the meantime, he can't help but wonder why the loud teacher on the lacrosse field has such a terrible smile.
Fic Title/Summary 5: Smoke - Finstock says that childhood feels like championship games, tests for classes you keep falling asleep to, the prom, drugs and being stupid enough to get away with only half of what you want to. Greenberg says that adulthood feels like college, bills, ill-fitting suits, pain and interviews for jobs where he can do good, but never be great at. Eventually both of them are going to be right.

Title: August [big bang]
Word Count: 27,030
Rating: PG-13
Warnings (if any): Character Death, references to panic attacks, Drug and Alcohol Use
Genre: Slash
Summary: The summer before senior year taught Stiles how to let go, how to fall in love, and the benefits of being a pack. The fall of senior year taught him the realities of actually staying a pack, how to survive through much more than any supernatural danger, and how to deal with the one thing werewolves can't heal.

VII. [claimed by Kezley]

Title: Cross My Soul [big bang]
Word count: ~20,000
Rating: R
Warnings (if any): Canon violence. Mentions of suicide (In relation to Allison's mother), and very passing mention of schizophrenia (in relation to Stiles')
Pairing: Derek/Stiles
Genre: Slash. A fusion with the His Dark Materials series. Everyone has daemons!
Summary: People's daemons are being attacked and killed, leaving their humans behind to wither away into nothing. The evidence points towards a supernatural cause, and Stiles teams up with Derek to figure it out.

The last time he’d been near Derek’s daemon, she tried to attack him, standing guard over Derek’s body, snarling, muzzle frothy, eyes big and black and scary-mindless. She wouldn’t let anyone close to take the rebar sticking out of Derek's lung, did it herself when everyone was far enough away, tugging at it with her teeth and panting, whining. He’s not sure if she would have touched him, but the threat had seemed real enough at the time, and he hadn’t been willing to find out, in any case.

---

Jinx is all the most concentrated parts of Stiles, mean and rude and short with him and others, pushy and obsessive, doesn't suffer idiots and tells them about it. She's confrontational and it scares people, makes them uncomfortable. People don't take them seriously, they think: she's an otter, she's playful, she's cute. They want her to do tricks, hold hands, take pictures, so she's not often kind, wishes sometimes that she was bigger to force the issue. She mostly wants to bite their fingers off.

Title: I Want to Feel Your Heartbeat (For Me Instead) [big bang]
Word count: ~26,500
Rating: R
Warnings (if any): possible dub-con with the bond otherwise none
Pairing: Derek/Stiles; Danny/Jackson
Genre: Slash
Summary: AU. Without Scott being turned into a werewolf, trust begins to form between Derek and Stiles. As the two become progressively closer, a case of wrong place, wrong time leads to Stiles seeing Derek's eyes - his werewolf eyes that is. As a specific type of werewolf called the loup garou, Derek can change only one person into a werewolf with the power: his mate, who just so happens to be Stiles. The spell only lasts a hundred and one days however, unless Stiles accepts the bond and agrees to become a werewolf alongside Derek for the rest of his life. But with Peter unwilling to give up his plots for revenge, going so far as to recruit Jackson when he offers him the bite, they might not even make it through the next week let alone three and a half months.

Title: Cry Havoc [big bang]
Word count: 56,847
Rating: Explicit/NC-17
Warnings (if any): canon-level violence; brief body horror; issues of agency and metaphors for sexual assault; non-sexual noncon
Pairing: Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale (Sterek); background Scott McCall/Allison Argent, Erica Reyes/Vernon Boyd, Lydia Martin/Jackson Whittemore
Genre: Slash
Summary: Magic-amnesia!fic. Two years ago, Stiles had a new business, a place in the Beacon Hills pack, and a surprisingly functional relationship with Derek; but that all changed when Chris Argent decided to take revenge for what happened to his wife.  Now Stiles is living in Boston, hunting werewolves and assorted supernatural menaces with no memory of the life he used to have.

Meanwhile, in Beacon Hills, the war that’s been raging between werewolves and hunters has begun spilling over onto the civilian population.  When the mysterious tattoo on Stiles’s back is damaged on a late-night hunt he begins to have dreams that lead him across the country, drawn by an inexplicable conviction that he’s needed there.  When Derek Hale, the pack’s alpha, reveals that he started the war when his mate was killed, he offers Stiles a strange deal: figure out how to bring his mate back, and he’ll agree to peace talks.

Things only get more complicated when Stiles finds that his vague sense of familiarity with the town runs deeper than he’d thought.  Before long he has to contend with a pack of werewolves convinced that he’s their long-lost friend, an unhinged rival alpha, and the friends he left behind in Boston who are preparing to take charge of the situation in Beacon Hills themselves.

Title: The Word You See [mini bang]
Word count: 11,925
Rating: Explicit/NC-17
Warnings (if any): brief mild violence
Pairing: Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale (Sterek)
Genre: Slash
Summary: “Derek speaks in another language, in action and deed and the spaces between his words when he can be bothered to use them at all; in his eyes and the set of his mouth, in all the things he doesn’t say.  And Stiles, who's used words for so long as a weapon, as a shield, has grown fluent in not speaking, in reading the truths that Derek says without speaking, and offering his own up in return. “

When you’re both terrified of saying the wrong thing, sometimes you don’t say anything at all.  Luckily, actions speak louder than words.  A stumbling love story in five parts.

(In which there is accidental and intentional courtship through food; a first kiss interrupted by a battle against a rival werewolf pack in the moon-lit woods; and an awkward relationship conversation while Stiles is bleeding from the head.)

Title: Legacy [big bang]
Word count: 28,000
Rating: PG-13
Warnings (if any): None
Pairing: Derek/Stiles
Genre: Slash
Summary: Stiles has always known his mom had a pretty serious medical condition. It was something she lived with for a long time before it finally got the better of her. So it isn't a hard leap to make that it might have prevented her from carrying a child to term on her own. Stiles just didn't expect to learn that her solution had involved Derek's mother.

With the Alpha pack in town looking to cause problems, Stiles doesn't have time to get caught up in old family secrets or his evolving relationship with Derek, but he's not going to get much of a choice in the matter on either count.

(Contains: family backstory, Stiles and Sheriff father-son bonding, a trip to a lighthouse, full wolf!Derek, kidnapped!Stiles, wolf!Stiles, and Derek-and-Stiles moments galore.)

Title: Love In Strange Places [minibang]
Word count: 10k total, 2k a piece
Rating: NC-17
Warnings (if any): barebacking, light infidelity implications, canocal dub-con, sounding, age-difference
Pairing: Scott/Chris, Lydia/Peter, Scott/Isaac, Jackson/Danny, Boyd/Erica
Genre: Het & Slash
Summary: This is a collection of one-shots dedicated to rare pairs! Each are adult in nature.

Whisper Sex in my Ear (Scott McCall/Chris Argent): So maybe Scott loves getting fucked by Chris. No big deal.
Dream A Little Dream of Me (Lydia Martin/Peter Hale): Lydia knows Peter’s going to leave her eventually. He has bigger and better things to move on to. But he can’t come back without her, so it’s going to be on her time and her terms; after she gets what she wants.
Sounds Fun (Scott McCall/Isaac Lahey): Scott has a secret kink. He loves the idea of stuffing his cock full with a sound or, anything really. No one was supposed to find out, but man is he glad Isaac did.
Forever and Almost Always (Jackson Whittemore/Danny Mahealani): Jackson Whittemore is everyone’s type. This is something he knows deep down to the core of his bones. He’s not going to let one stupid night at a gay club with Danny change everything he knows.
Home (Erica Reyes/Vernon Boyd): Sometimes Erica still has to stop and remind herself it’s okay to be happy. For the first time in her life she has a place where she belongs.

Title: I’m Really Not Okay [big bang]
Word count: ~20,000
Rating:  PG-13 for graphic content.
Warnings: Self-harm, canon-typical violence, creepy monsters
Pairing: Derek/Stiles
Genre: Mild slash
Summary: Stiles doesn’t have a problem. In fact, he has a solution to his problems. His methods might be unorthodox, but when someone is in a constant state of awareness and panic because of living with werewolves, it’s hard to really find a normal coping mechanism. It wasn’t a problem, though, because nobody needed to know what Stiles did to help deal with his stress. He was fine. He was 100% perfectly a-okay fine. Even with Derek finding out, it wasn’t a big deal, because Derek understood him and he wasn’t going to go run off to tell everyone about it. Stiles was perfectly content with nobody ever finding out. Which is exactly why he wishes he could erase the day that choice to hide it is taken from him.

Word count: 12,103
Rating: PG-13
Warnings (if any): minor character death
Pairing: Derek/Stiles
Genre: Slash, Stiles-centric
Summary: Stiles is struggling to cope with his fears and his anxieties. Increasingly feeling more isolated from his dad and his best friend, he finds himself feeling more desperate for something to happen. It's a dark summer for Stiles as the Alpha pack arrives, causing destruction in a war path and Stiles at a low point. Derek seeks out Stiles as they work to piece together the meaning of the Alpha pack and things start to shift. Very Stiles-centric. Kind of one long Stiles meta.

Title: Of Wolves and Doughnuts [big bang]
Word count: ~23,000
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings (if any): Canon typical violence
Pairing: main Stiles/Derek, side Boyd/Erica and Morrell/OFC
Genre: Slash, Femmeslash, Het
Summary: When Derek was fifteen, circumstance and a goddamn doughnut had seen fit to bond him to Stiles Stilinski. With the bond came blue eyes, a constant itch between his shoulder blades and, six years later, the inability to make the smart play and get the hell out of dodge. Instead he'd been forced to take up the mantle of Alpha, scrounge the edges of Beacon Hills High for the bare makings of a Pack and try to prepare for the fight he knew was coming.

Because the Alpha Pack is on it's way, and their reputation isn't exactly roses.

In which Derek is more cunning than anyone gives him credit for, Stiles doesn't understand why the new Alphas in town are all up in his business and everyone gets a violent crash-course in what it means to be Pack, whether they're in it or not.

Title: Where I Stood [big bang]
Word count: 24,193
Rating: T
Warnings (if any): Off-screen major character death, briefly described torture
Pairing: Sterek, Boydica, Scallison, mentioned Stydia
Genre: Gen, Slash
Summary: Stiles is nineteen when Derek leaves. He's thirty by the time the wheels of Derek's car hit Beacon Hills again. He doesn't expect to be welcomed back with open arms, but he never expected to find Stiles with kids, let alone three of them: The two-year-old twins, Steven and James, and six-year-old Grace, a fiery red head -- just like her mother. As the world seems to know, trouble follows Derek like a bloodhound, and the pack is soon under threat of a group of hunters, and later, a pack of werewolves after one thing: Stiles' kids and their immunity.

The wolf pack, created by a feral alpha who has since died, is hell bent on finding a way to become human again, and the group of hunters has vowed to rid the world of werewolves for good, whether by killing every single one, or forcing a cure on them. The hunters already have at their disposal a type of genetically altered wolfsbane that temporarily turns werewolves human. It would be Derek's luck that he gets stabbed with a knife laced with the stuff. Between misguided werewolves, insane hunters, and reclaiming his place as alpha and a werewolf, Derek also has to figure out how to repair the damage done between him and Stiles: a mission that's a lot easier planned than carried out.

Title: Who Put The Maid In Mermaid
Word count: ~20,000
Rating: PG-13
Warnings (if any): blood, canon-typical violence
Pairing: Derek/Stiles,
Genre: Slash
Summary: Stiles wasn’t like other merfolk. He didn’t enjoy swimming up to the surface to enchant humans, didn’t enjoy pulling those humans down into the water, didn’t enjoy drowning them at the bottom of the sea. He was not a big fan of the whole murder thing, unless it involved fish and that night’s dinner, or people that were trying to kill him first. He was perfectly okay with killing when it ended up saving their lives.

He did enjoy swimming in the ocean, his tail swishing back and forth, his scales glittering whenever the rays of the setting sun caught. He enjoyed singing out loud, and not having to worry about his voice mesmerizing people. He enjoyed having heightened senses, enjoyed being able to breathe underwater, even enjoyed being able to manipulate people and things so as to protect himself and the people he cared about.

Stiles wasn’t like other merfolk in that he spent most of his time on land, only swimming a couple times a day if that. He wasn’t like humans in that every time he swam his legs became a gorgeous burnt orange tail. He was a wonderful mixture of both, the perfect split between a being of the earth and a being of the water.

He was so many things, and yet the most important was that he was still Stiles. He was obnoxious, loud, brash, sarcastic, intelligent, stubborn, witty, loyal, loving, and so many other traits that would take days to write down. He took care of the his friends and family, protected his town, stood up against hunter and supernatural creature alike.

Title: your heart taking root in your body [big bang]
Word count: 21k
Rating: PG-13
Warnings (if any): Extreme underage sexuality, but nothing explicit. 16-year-old Derek and 10-year-old Stiles share a kiss. 10-year-old Stiles masturbates. 10-year-old Stiles is a willing participant in all of it, partly because of unwittingly soul bonding with Derek, so all the dub con inherent in that…better explained in the summary!
Pairing: Stiles/Derek
Genre: Slash
Summary: It’s a story in two parts, all in Stiles’ POV.

Part 1 is set immediately after the Hale house fire in ~2005. Derek and Stiles meet by chance and end up taking a drive together the night after most of Derek’s family have been killed. Derek’s grieving and Stiles, who has hardly processed his mother’s death the year before, is overwhelmed with empathy. Finding a connection in each other like neither has ever experienced, the boys keep meeting over the following week, taking comfort in conversation and (platonic) physical intimacy. Unbeknownst to either of them, the wolf in Derek recognizes Stiles as a mate and claims him. When Derek realizes this, and especially when he kisses Stiles without meaning to, he freaks out. When Derek and Laura suddenly leave Beacon Hills, Stiles is heartbroken.

Part 2 is largely set during Stiles’ last semester in high school, briefly covering everything that’s happened to him since Derek left (adhering to canon, though not season 3 spoilers). The whole pack has gotten into UC Berkeley and Derek tells them that he has a house there that everyone could live in co-op style and proposes a pack road trip to go see it. Stiles is excited, but confused when no one shows up to go on the road trip except for Derek-unbeknownst to Stiles, who just turned eighteen, the pack has convinced Derek to finally make a move and if Stiles isn’t interested, like Derek has convinced himself, then he has to figure out a way to end the claim and let them both move on. But obviously Stiles is totally interested and after a lot of angst and talking they have lots of great sex and go back to Beacon Hills for some pack fuzzies.

Title: It's Like You're A Drug [big bang]
Word count: ~20k
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: barebacking, minor dub con, infidelity
Pairing: Jackson/Allison, Scott/Allison

Title: The Difficulty Flying with a Broken Wing Attached [mini bang]
Word count: 12,000~
Rating: R
Warnings (if any): Indirect mentions of panic attacks, depression, dependencies, physical abuse, and some depictions of violence/injury that may be too much between broken bones and Stiles-sized holes created in walls. Also, some smut with unconscious sex, light power play, pinning (actual pinning), casual violence, and some inferenced pain play. Angst and very sad things included.
Pairing: Stiles/Derek (Sterek), Jackson/Isaac (Jasaac), mentions of Scallison and Jydia
Genre: Mainly slash, side het
Summary:

Series of snapshots of post-finale situations. Both Stiles and Derek and Jackson and Isaac aren't articulating most of anything, half of what they're doing has been barely even explained to themselves, and they were able to ignore small things like "feelings" before but that hasn't gone so successfully as it has back then, with hunters and kanimas as distractions from the entirety that is their lives. It doesn't help that everyone involved is just as clueless as to what's going on in everyone else's heads. But maybe that means they can still have some sort of a happy ending.

(Just a bunch of fics that play around with some things I wanted to experiment with, everything from Alpha!Stiles, to two different outlooks on Mates, to self-reflection and other takes on characters.)

Goodness gracious. All of the drafts we received, as you can see, look really incredible. Make sure you pick at least three that you'd like, so that way if someone gets to your first pick before you do, you can have backups. Happy claiming!
