Only on a SW message board

Only on the JC would the following picture be found "offensively graphic".  *rolls eyes*   I swear, I've never seen so many people who are offended by beautiful women in bikinis and attractive men with no shirts.

I didn't make this banner, but apparently it's ok to insult the person who did by describing their work in such a manner.  Making that ( Read more... )

It makes me want to post the Memphis FanForce banner I made for Traci over in Resource.

Traci will have you reading Legacy before you know it.

It is inevitable. /Palpatine

I'm afraid that no one could get me near anything SW related any longer. They've taken any amount of love I had for the franchise and killed it, I think. I just have to pretend that a lot of things never happened for me to write any sort of fanfic any longer. (And I don't just mean LOTF. I fell off the profic train way before that! I had to, else I would have started to hate the films, too, and I really didn't want that to happen. LOL)

In any case, I've just seen the new Beyond banner... and the future Sith Lord up there disturbs me. Who should I complain to?? ;)

The lack of a naked chest on the Beyond banner disturbs me.

:P

You have got to be kidding me. I can totally understand how it might not be to some people's tastes, but offensively graphic? That's a guy we're looking at, not a girl. Nothing indecent is exposed. Nothing indecent is even coming close to being exposed - more of him is covered than otherwise, and for all anyone knows, the boy's got boxers on under there. Seriously, now.

It's about par for the course. Have you seen the shouts of outrage when the shirtless Anakin banner goes up in Resource?

I saw where you responded in Resource. It irritated me too much for me to post immediately. I'd hate for Traci to have to slap my wrist with her mod stick. :P

I have seen the shouts of outrage, and it's just as inexplicable there. I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of the Anakin one (the lack of a head annoys me :p ), but that's all it is, personal taste. There's nothing indecent about the Anakin banner and there's nothing indecent with the Cade banner. The automatic equation of "I don't like this" with "it's graphically offensive" is far more irritating than any banner I've ever seen. Not to mention that there's something a little unprofessional about outright accusing the mods of posting something offensive. A polite "are you sure this is appropriate" is one thing; "when is this going away because I'm boycotting such graphic offensiveness" is entirely another.

I have on occasion PMed Traci (or LP, when she was a mod) my planned responses on some threads to get them okayed first, because I was too irritated to judge fairly. It's always a bummer for a mod to have to reprimand a friend. :p

I am actually surprised that it took this long for someone to complain. I expected cries of: "A Nekkid Man! EWWWW! Run away, run away!" the day after that banner got put up. *roll eyes*

(We could really send them over the edge and point out that, not only is he wearing a sheet, he's drooling in post-coital bliss after a night of inter-species shagging. *face_mischief*)

Like you said, if it's not the women in Fan Fic complaining about a man's chest, it's the guys in Lit complaining about women's boobs.

*insert Jan Duursema's oh so snarkily eloquent soap box rant about bare skin and American culture here* ;)

Did you see where I posted a link to the Memphis board? Good thing she's not in a SouthEast Fan Force, because she'd have to look at it on the Regional Discussion Board, too. ;p

It's not to my personal tastes, but indecent? Sheesh, the things people waste their time getting worked up over. :P IMO, if it was okay for the movies, it's okay for any public graphics - and this is certainly no more graphic than shirtless Anakin or slave Leia.
