SIGNAL BOOST! KITTY RELATED!

issendai has a warning about Purina cat and dog food HERE

DUDE!  When I moved back home to the 'rents, we switched everyone over to Purina, figuring it'd be healthier than generic but cheaper than something else.

Since then, we've all been worried about most of the kitties at one point or another, mainly because they're lethargic or because of barf.

See, my guys eat a mixture of Science Diet, Purina One, Newman's Own and Blue Buffalo and they're all healthy as hogs. True, they've coughed up a lot of hairballs lately but then they're in central heating and licking like crazy. And the only one who vomits up her dinner is Pelle, who only likes the Science Diet.

Cats - go figure.

Word. It's always hairball city around here, but the vomit lately is just weird, clear slime. (BLAH) And they've TOTALLY been lethargic, so I'm gonna force a change.

I always fed my girls the generic dry Kroger food for Indoor mixed with the one for older kitties *plus* a few cans of Fancy Feast (purina) wet food as a treat. I've never really seen...this. It's DEFINITELY been a point of discussion around here plus a couple of hefty vet bills where the diagnosis was "DUURRRR...ANTIBIOTICS?"

So I think it's totally worth a shot. It really has effected the older guys most (if it EVEN IS the problem).

Personally? I've NEVER liked Purina dry food, but I was out-voted by Dad since he's buying truck loads of kitty food. :D

I saw this a couple of weeks ago.

My cat has barfed all over my floor somewhere, I swear.

After reading this, I dumped the last can of Purina Fancy Feast that I had. I've since gone to a grain free dry and just buying chicken thighs, cutting them into hunks, freezing them, and then chopping up just enough and nuking it to give to her... and not one, single, barf since.

I don't know whether it's all true or not, but at this point, as little as my kitty eats, I think I'm just going to stick to real (if frozen) chicken and the grain free dry food.
