How disappointing!

I always thought I was different from the other nerds. In elementary school, I was ostracized more than they were, and in high school I mingled more than they did. I hit enough musical genres to keep up in any clique, I understood everyone’s jokes, and I had the breadth to participate in nearly any conversation. I was at once a member and an ( Read more... )

Well, there's where your wife is wrong. I have always thought (and still do think) you are a nerd of great breadth. I think it's quite telling that your youthful aspiration to grow up to be like Bill Stoddard (in his encyclopaedic knowledge aspect) is continuing to come true. While I haven't had occasion to avail myself of it yet, I'm sure I'll some day soon call you with an urgent question about frogs, the Aztecs (culture, not sports team), or veterinary science (if I can't get a hold of Nightshade).

I know that's the jealous friend talking, so I'll forgive you. :)

She doesn't spend too much money, we spend too much money. We're moving to Texas because doing so will allow us to live on one income; homemakers are resourceful economists. As for respecting my 1337n355, we all knew it was a mixed marriage going in. It's just one of those "separate spheres" things.
