Duncan had wished Wes would have let him go alone. Somehow the idea of Wes being there didn't sit well with him -- most likely because if things got bad...

Well, if things were bad and Wes lost control, Duncan would have to deal with his own feelings of loss over Aidan, trying to help Wes, as well as killing the Immortal who caused it. Frankly, it was all too much for him, especially considering that he'd just finished his own brand of "justice" for what happened to Faith.

But the other part of Duncan, the part that loved and cared too much, knew Wes had to be there ( ... )

Wes knew that he was overdoing it on the weapons front, but he sometimes felt it was better to be safe than sorry. Granted, that wasn't often, but it was still an occurance at times. Besides, only the two swords were really visable, as the regular blaster was holstered under his jacket on his hip, the vibroblade was in a sheath up his arm, and the holdouy blaster was tucked into his pants.

No laughing.

Wes nodded, and he looked more determined than anything else. He wouldn't give up on Aidan being alive until there was proof in front of him to that fact. "I got permission from Jon to check out the security tapes, so me might as well start there."

"Sounds like a good place to start," Duncan agreed, trying to stay as calm as possible unless there was a need for him not to be. He started walking, not really looking to see if Wes was following or not, because at this point? Duncan didn't care if they had permission. He'd damn well break into the place if he had to.

Luckily, though, he didn't have to.

Hopefully, the tapes would be clear enough to see who was who, since it was fairly obvious that it had been an Immortal fight. That much was clear. Duncan paused before they went in to watch and looked at Wes.

"He's fine," he reassured him. Most likely, reassuring himself, as well.

Wes followed, not caring that Duncan didn't really want him there. He knew that he might be young by Duncan's standards, but he also knew that he was capable of a lot more, and had been through a lot more, than Duncan probably realized. "I know."

Except he didn't really, and that made him upset, which was never a good thing. Shaking off the negative thoughts, he made his way into the bar and back to where they kept the cameras and video equipment. True to his word, Jon had made the tape available and they sat down to watch.

"I don't know how much this will show us of the outside..."
